The target market for the delivery of the training product is identified as having 2 distinct groups, which we refer to as cohorts.
Group/Cohort 1: Some Level of Experience with the Vocational Education and Training Industry
- May hold TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
- Some prior experience in the VET Sector.
- They are seeking re-entry into the VET Sector.
- They hold qualifications and have experience in the industry in their proposed teaching and assessing area.
- They have a range of education and generalist computer skills.
- They have undertaken professional development in their proposed teaching and assessing area and have some knowledge of the VET industry, including terminology, processes, legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Hold a VET qualification and thus understand the nature of vocational educational study.
Group/Cohort 2: Novice Learners
- They wish to gain entry into the VET Sector.
- They hold, or wish to gain a role which requires TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- They want to build on their limited knowledge of the VET Sector and its nature and processes as an industry.
- They come with a range of generalist computer skills (see enrolment processes and entry requirements).
- They are able to demonstrate Vocational Competence in their proposed teaching and assessing area by holding a relevant qualification, and/or broad industry knowledge and experience.
- They are interested in learning about the VET sector and in particular, the skills and knowledge to become a qualified trainer and assessor in the industry.

Existing Industry Skills and Experience (Vocational Competence)
Each prospective student must be able to provide evidence of their ‘vocational competence’ in the industry that they are intending to deliver training in.
Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. iLearn eCollege requires all prospective students to complete a ‘Vocational Competency’ questionnaire on their enrolment application. This questionnaire captures evidence of industry experience and vocational qualifications completed, and informs us of the learner group (experienced, intermediate or novice) that students will be placed into.
Required Course Entry Skills
Existing skills needed to complete this qualification include:
- Computer skills such as typing and sending an email, and opening PDF documents,
- Basic skills to use your own printer and scanner,
- Basic skills to use Microsoft Office programs such as Word and PowerPoint such as creating and saving a new file, adding and editing text, tables, images and font,
- Basic internet skills to undertake online research.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)
A USI is a 10-character string unique to you which is needed to undertake nationally recognised training with iLearn eCollege, such as applying into this program. All you need is a form of Australian identification, and 10 minutes of your time to create one. Click HERE to create a USI.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Indicator Tool
To determine a student’s learning support needs and eligibility for enrolment, prior to confirmation of enrolment, you may be required to complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Indicator Tool. An LLN report will be developed and utilised by your trainer and assessor to ensure your individual learning needs are supported throughout the duration of your studies. Any potential learning support strategies to address your LLN needs may be discussed with your trainer and assessor.

iLearn eCollege will review your LLN Indicator results to determine if support services and reasonable adjustments are required. Reasonable adjustment options are available to accommodate anyone who may have a learning need, disability or impairment. Reasonable adjustments that are made to the training materials and assessments are recorded in the student’s file.

Our trainers are passionate industry experts who are available to guide you through your learning experience.

The course comprises of pre-virtual training learning and assessment exercises, followed by 10 days of virtual training, which incorporates time to complete assessments. Once the virtual training is concluded, students complete the remainder of their course self-paced.
This course comprises 10 units of competency of which 9 are core units, and 1 elective unit. The course is broken down into 6 clusters/units of competency. These are further grouped as 3 distinct ‘modules’ and learners are encouraged to concentrate on, and complete, one module before moving onto the next.

- Mode of Delivery
iLearn eCollege utilises a blended mode to deliver the training and assessment components of the course. This includes online training, trainer support, self-paced study and distance-based assessing. Features of our delivery mode include:
- The online training refers to the 10 days of virtual training, which take place through Zoom.
- Trainer support refers to email and telephone contact with the trainers which is available to all students as and when required.
- The assessment method is distance-based whereby the student must complete and upload the assessments via the Catapult LMS or submit these for marking via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Undertaking training and assessment during, and after the 10 days of virtual training is a mandatory requirement of completing the course.
The course will require you to complete learning and assessment activities that will require training and assessing real people in a suitable environment. You will be required to organize access to people for these activities and assessments as per the following table. Please note the word “participant” refers to the people who will be participating in the training or assessment you will be providing during the learning or assessment activity. Participants must be over the age of 16 and able to interact with the student verbally and in English. Family members and work colleagues are acceptable participants as long as they meet the above criteria.

*The term real vocational learner refers to an individual who is looking to undertake training for employment or future employment purposes. This might be a person who is enrolled or intending to enrol in a course of study or qualification with a Registered Training Organisation, such as an Apprentice or Trainee in your workplace, or a colleague looking to do some professional development. If you are unsure if your proposed learner qualifies as a real vocational learner, check with your trainer before commencing this assessment.
*The virtual program gives students the opportunity to undertake assessments during the program, including assessments that require participant/s. Students undertaking this program can act as participants for other students, and vice-versa.
Note: Students in the virtual program are required to book into the presentation days to complete Project B in the TAEDEL401_TAEDEL402_BSBCMM401 cluster. The presentation days are 2 consecutive days of conducting group deliveries with other iLearn eCollege students, and will only run if 8 students are present. Total course duration is up to 48 weeks of learning and assessment based on two 40-hour virtual training and assessment weeks, followed by self-paced study of 20-hour study weeks but may be shorter depending on the learner’s prior experience. Each student has up to 12 months to complete the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (virtual).
You will receive access to the pre-virtual learning and assessment materials once your enrolment application has been finalised and the enrolment approval fee has been paid. Notification of your course commencing is sent via email with your twelve-month course period being defined in the official Enrolment Letter.
Note: Your start date is defined as the first day of the virtual training. Access to your full course materials will be available through your student log-in on this day.
- Amount of Training
The amount of training is calculated based on the following formal learning activities:
- Virtual Classroom
These will take place through 10 days of virtual training, consisting of:
- 6 hours allocated to training per day (Note: 2 hours per day is allocated towards assessment)
- Total duration is 60 hours
- Pre-recorded webinar sessions
These will take place through the online portal, consisting of:
- 8 webinar sessions
- Total duration of webinars for Cohort’s 1 and 2 is 8 hours
- Self-paced study
Self-paced study includes the pre-virtual training activities, accessing the learner guides and associated readings, independent research, trainer interaction via email and telephone and pre-assessment questions.
- Cohort 1 (experienced learners) total self-paced study is 497 hours
- Cohort 2 (novice learners) total self-paced study is 685 hours
Where students present with Credit Transfers and/or RPL the self-paced study hours would be reduced accordingly.
Based on the above formal learning activities, the total amount of training is:
- Cohort 1 (experienced learners) total amount of training is 565 hours
- Cohort 2 (novice learners) total amount of training is 753 hours
Volume of Learning
*Estimated assessment hours are a guide only. This will vary for individual students whereby the hours may be more or less depending on the student’s comprehension.
*Assessments will be completed during the 10 days of virtual training.
- Information Regarding Assessments
Each module in this course contains a range of assessments including written questions and project based practical assessments.
The project based assessments require you to audio/video record the practical sessions and submit the file for marking, or as an alternative, you can submit third party reports.
Some assessments will be completed during the 10 days of virtual training, however these will not be observed live by the trainer. You will be required to screen record these practical sessions with your partner to submit for marking.
A third party report is a document provided by iLearn eCollege which is completed by a third party observer. The third party observer comments on what they hear and see during each session, by filling in the third party report (the third party observer is not the assessor). If you select the third party option in the projects, a copy of the third party observer’s TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification and record of results will need to be provided as evidence. iLearn eCollege may also need to evaluate your choice of third party to ensure there is no perceived conflict of interest. For example, where your third party is a direct report or a family member.

RTO Document Library
Each module requires you to access an array of workplace documentation typically found within a training and assessment environment. iLearn eCollege has created a set of workplace documents for you to access when completing your assessments. You will receive access to the RTO document library at the commencement of your course.
Assessment Marking System
Every assessment has been developed against the competency standards in each unit. Competency standards include elements, performance criteria, required skills and knowledge, critical aspects for assessment, performance evidence, knowledge evidence, foundation skills and assessment conditions. You will be assessed against all of these standards. If your assessment responses satisfactorily meet all standards you will receive a satisfactory result. If they do not, then your assessors will provide assessment feedback to you and give you the opportunity to re submit your assessment addressing just the areas where you have not met the standards.

Assessments will need to be attempted in full before being submitted for marking. You have up to three (3) attempts to demonstrate competency in each unit. If you are deemed Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) on the third attempt, you are able to apply for re-assessment, however a $50.00 re-assessment fee applies. You will then have a further three attempts to demonstrate competency. If you are still unable to demonstrate competency after three further attempts, your enrolment will be reviewed by the General Manager before any further enrolment is permitted. Please refer to the fee schedule located in the Student Handbook.
- Recognition Processes
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
iLearn eCollege offers you the opportunity to be assessed through recognition of prior learning. Please refer to the RPL Application Kit for this course. You have up to three (3) opportunities to submit your RPL application for review. If there are gaps in your RPL evidence, then you will be required to complete the remaining gaps through formal assessments which will be organised by your RPL assessor. This may result in being enrolled in specific units to complete some training and assessment for whole units and/or parts of units.
Credit Transfer (CT)
iLearn eCollege recognises statements of attainment and qualifications issued by other registered training organisations (RTOs). There is no charge to transfer these into your enrolled program, just ensure you can send these through as evidence.
- Fee Information
Non-Refundable Administration Fee
A non-refundable administration fee of $490 is to be made upon enrolment application.
1. Upfront Course Fee
Total fee for this option is $2,000.
Upon successful enrolment application, you will be invoiced for half of the course fee ($1,000). This fee must be paid in order to receive access to the 10 days of virtual training.
At the conclusion of the 10 days of virtual training, you will be invoiced for the second half of the course fee ($1,000)
The course fee is inclusive of the following items:
- Student access to the resources listed in “Student Access to Resources”
- Trainer and assessor support by phone and email
- Up to 12 months’ access to complete the course
- RPL and CT applications outlined in”Recognition Processes”
- Support services listed in “Educational and Support Services”
- Certificate and a record of results upon successful completion of the course (does not include replacement certificate)

2. Payment Plan Option
Total fee for this option is $2,500.

- Payment of the non-refundable administration fee of $490 with your enrolment application, followed by fifty-two (52) weekly payments of $48.07. (Total financial commitment is $2,990).
- Signing an EziDebit Direct Debit Request form to authorise weekly direct payments from either your credit card or your bank account. iLearn eCollege will email you a pre-filled EziDebit Direct Debit link.
- By opting to pay your course fees via a payment plan, you also agree to the EziDebit terms and conditions. EziDebit will charge the following fees to the student:
- Amex credit card transaction fee – 3.8% each time
- SMS Payment Reminder – $0.28 each time (applies if you select the field: ‘I authorise EziDebit to remind me of upcoming debits via SMS’)
- The interest free payment plan option is available for individual enrolment into the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment full qualification. Fees for enrolment into skill sets, single units, combination of units, and upgrade enrolments need to be paid upfront and in full.
- This payment option is not available for purchase order/company enrolments.
- Ezibebit can only process payments from Australian Bank Accounts and Australian Credit Cards.
Failed payment fees apply and are imposed by EziDebit. Refer to the EziDebit terms and conditions. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure there are sufficient funds in their nominated bank account or credit card, prior to the payment being made. Access to training materials, support services and the online learning system will discontinue if instalment payments are not received by iLearn eCollege in accordance with the debit arrangement.
